Registration has begun for the Weekday Preschool Program.  Please come by the church office with your completed application and $65 registration fee. The registration fee is required to reserve your child's spot in the class. Classes normally fill up quickly, so register now! Download a registration form here. Weekday Preschool Program

The First Baptist Church Weekday Preschool Program meets twice weekly, on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9am-12pm. Beginning in August and ending in May, the preschool schedule follows the Colquitt County Public School System schedule in observance of holidays.

Lisa Chambers-Owen teaches the 2-yr-old class and is in her second year in this position. Lisa has two children of her own and says, "teaching this age group is great because of their natural curiosity. You can really see it when they grasp something new."

Rachael Mercer is the 3-yr-old class teacher. This is her third year at First Baptist's Preschool. Rachael has four children under the age of 6 and is still very immersed in the "preschool culture" at home and at school!

During the school year students in Mrs. Rachael's class work through the alphabet a week at a time, while spending a month focusing on various monthly themes. Mrs. Lisa's class schedule and learning time is a little less extensive as socialization is the main goal.

Some monthly units include:

  • August: Ocean Unit
  • September: Construction Unit
  • October: Transportation & Safety Unit
  • November: Farming Unit
  • December: Christmas Unit
  • January: God Made Me Special Unit
  • February: God Loves Me Unit
  • March: Easter Unit 
  • April: Solar System Unit

Field trips which correspond to the particular unit are planned throughout the year. For example, during the Ocean Unit, both classes take a trip to the Northwest Water Park; during the Transportation & Safety Unit a field trip to the Moultrie Fire Dept. is planned. Special guests are always welcome.

Tuition for the 2007-2008 school year is $65/mo. for all months August through May and a registration fee of $65 is required to reserve a spot in the class.
